I got my first visa extension. My passport was stamped, permitted to stay till 27 Nov.. I was surprized it did not have a date stamped when I must report. My question is: do I just count out 90 days on the calendar? Can I report before 90 days? What if Im late, is there a fine? What if the 90th day comes on a weekend or holiday? I would imagine they would not allow reporting late and with all the weekends and holidays, each year, one would lose a few days toward thier annual renewal.

When you reported for your extension of stay that was report #1 so you count 90 from that date and then make your next report and receive the normal TM.47 receipt. You have a window of plus/minus 7 days so weekends are no problem. You will be fined 2,000 baht if late. This 90 day report has nothing to do with renewal of your stay - that will always be due on the same day each year (27 Nov.) but you can do the paperwork up to 30 days early.

Thanks Lopuri, One more question. I got a reentry permit and am planning on leaving Thailand 96 days from when my passport was stamped. I think I should report just to be sure, but would I have a problem at the airport if I didnt report on the 90th day?

I can't see you having any problem. But I would go ahead and do the report as you know your plans will change if you don't and the flight will be a week or two later. :o

Hi Lopburi

Forgive my basic question but I have only just received my 1 year marriage visa and have yet to do my first 90 reporting. Please tell me if my assumptions are correct

a) I must complete the 90 form and post it to suan phlu just before 90 days from the date of my marriage visa extension application as stamped in my passport

:o I live up country so I can expect the receipt back around 3 weeks later ( I believe our local post office is efficient and I know the jolly Postmaster personally so have no reson to distrust this method.

c) if it fails, the worst that can happen is a 2k fine - do you get a black mark for this as with overstay?

d) what if i didnt report. Each year have to pay 6k for 3 90day reports? Any black mark?

e) after 3 of more years of contunuous residence I can apply for permanent resident. Its expensive, is it worth it? perhaps I should search the forum here - apologies in advance for any dumb questions

If you live up country with your wife you should change your address to where you actually live and report there. I just changed mine from Jomtien to Loei. It was very easy and after I finally found the office in Chiang Khan it took about 15 minutes.

you need to report your address 90 days from your last entry into thailand. application or completion of an extension doesn't qualify.

you will have a stamp in your passport with the date, fine amount, etc.

multiple stamps of ignoring reporting when required shows lack of respect for immigration's rules. not recommended, as you need to apply for extensions in the future.

this topic comes up weekly, try searching or click back a few days in the forum.

Thanks huski, i did the search as you quite rightly suggested and i should have done it first, apologies.

Here is my recent experience at Suan Phlu for my first 90 day reporting, not quite so straight forward

I arrived 13.30 got my ticket for coungter number 3 and only had about 10 people ahead. It took about half an hour. Then the lady said where is your receipt from immigration ????? whats that

she showed my a small printed ticket about 60mm x 30 mm which should have informed me when to report. I had never seen this before, so she gaveme a blank ticket and sent me off to dreaded room 101 - heaving with bodies. I looked at my new waiting ticket and saw about 100 bodies ahead of me - this is getting bad. I went back to the booking desk and smiled big enough to sink a battleship and explained to the ladt that immigration did not give me a proper ticket before. To my surprise she marched off into 101 and went straight up the back to a senior honcho and after the obligatory bowing and ass licking she came back with the ticket duly complete. i could have kissed her. so i went back to the original counter 3 with another waiting ticket and pushed my passport under the bitches nose to ask if her graciousness beauty thought this was ok. To my surprise she smilde and took my passport and gave me a plstic tag to wait. Within 10 mins i have my passport plus the receipt slip and a date stamped telling my next reporting date - easy

so fist time round, make sure to get that little docket from immigration first OK
