Tesco Ham

Featured Replies

What's that gooey stuff that they put in the packets of ham in Tescos.I bought some the other day and there was so much gooey stuff in it that I had to literally scrape the crap off.ended up throwing it away.

its a really bad bologna or giant sliced hotdog at best. NOT HAM. sick.gif

Most of the pre packed ham I buy here, even expensive off the bone stuff seems to be covered in a snotty like slime that I need to wash off. Thought is was maybe some way of preserving the stuff in this climate.

Cheap ham is pumped full of polyphosphates which are only there to absorb water, so making the ham heavier than it would normally be, making more profit for the manufacturer (and to damnation with the pleasure of the consumer). In time polyphosphate gunk leaks out into the packet.

Good quality ham doesn't contain polyphosphates - and is seemingly unobtainable in Thailand unless you make it yourself.

I have to admit,it's put me off buying processed ham over here.I think I'll buy it over the counter in future.
