OMGImInPattaya
Nice to see the police have such close relations with all the gangs in Pattaya...I guess it escapes them that these are the people they should be arresting. I like how they put it..."currently undergoing interviewing," I wonder how that's going for Khun Wichien Maybe just hand over the Thai gang-banger to his local Russian counterparts and let them have their way with him. somdej
Reading through this forum and in particular stories like this reminds me of the BBC news, I don't know why. I suspect because all this negativity is so depressing. Thailand is no longer the country that I loved 25 years ago that's for sure, and given the resources I would probably move but it does make me wonder to what extent Thai Visa, with its seemingly constant stream of bad news, is representative of Thai society as a whole, or is my perception of reality being distorted. cup-O-coffee
From as insignificant a statement as "Rounding up Ladyboys on Beach Road" to as seemingly as significant (as a human would think) as "(Rounding up) Murderers and Rapists": beyond the surface differences, is there really any significant and edifying result in the manner with which the Thais engage their problem solving skills? I think not, due to the fact that the garbage they collect (whether animate or inanimate) consistently ends up right back out on the street. The only difference from the process? Something of value has been exchanged to put everything back the way it was originally.

fakename
I hope these are the real culprits, and not just some unlucky thugs, that were grabbed for the media event. The DNA was done very quick also. I like the part of the guy feeling sorry for hurting the image of Thailand! Yeah, sure, thats the first thing criminals think about when they get caught. I always knew that Thai's like music, but the speed in which Thai criminals start to sing on their fellow thugs is amazing! They are big guys, when they are out on the street, but when they get caught, hang their heads and cry, and probably even give up their mothers, to get a lighter sentence. After they get out, its Big Man again!

fakename
Well, thats one way they solve the crimes here. You have two choices, admit to the crime, and get a lighter sentence, or dont admit, and get the harsher penalty. And probably there is no one to defend these people anyway, only the very rich, so they know that if they did it, this is their only chance, which in some cases is very slim. Probably with murder, you either get life, or death, take your pick, most take the life option, no matter how long it is. Actually, im not at all sure how this legal system works. Rimmer
Russian Rape Suspects Prepared for Trial in Pattaya PATTAYA:--Three of the four men accused in the abduction and assault of two Russian women on Christmas Day have been involved in a re-enactment of their crime under police supervision on Thursday. Re enactments of crime is a standard police procedure in Thailand and afford the authorities the opportunity to cover the case in depth prior to trial. It also allows the accused to admit their crime and show exactly how it was carried out and for the victims to question the re enactment to make sure that all details are correct. Using a local national to represent the Russian ladies, the Police took the man considered to be the ring leader back to the scene of the crime.
