The Alliance of People for Democracy, which took the torch from government critic Sondhi Limthongkul, along with more than 50,000 people, rallied at the Royal Plaza on Saturday, where theirsole goal was the ouster of prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

12:35pm More than 300 members of EGAT?s labor union and the anti-privatization network convene at the Education Ministry, while Chaiwat Sinsuwong, former Phalang Dharma party leader, gives a speech on privatization of state enterprises.

2pm The People for Democracy, led by Suriyasai Katasila, secretary-general of the Campaign for Popular Democracy, Assembly of the Poor president Suwit Watnoo, and Chaiwat, along with 1,500 participants march toward the Royal Plaza.

2:20pm The protestors are refused entry to the Royal Plaza. After negotiations with Metropolitian Police Division 1 Commander Maj-Gen Pramote Pratumwong, they are allowed entry.

4:10pm Some 3,000 protesters join the rally. Simultaneously, students at Maha Sarakham University gather signatures against the PM.

4:30pm National Police Chief GenKowit Wattana visits the plaza and is ?booed? by protesters.

4:40pm Samran RodpetchThailand This Week?s MC, and Suwit, open proceedings and apologize to Kowit on behalf of the crowd.

5:20pm Sondhi and his co-hostSarosha Pornudomsak arrive.

6:30pm While Sondhi gives a speech,a man distributing pro-Thaksin pamphlets causes a

commotion among the protesters. Sondhi calms the crowd and the man leaves.

6:40pm Pipob Thongchai, chairman of the Campaign for Popular Democracy delivers an address on the stage.

7pm Nakhon Ratchasima Senator Kraisak Choonhavan criticises the Thaksin government.

7:45pm Student representatives speak against the PM, saying no compromise can be made.

Alliance members gather on stage and again announce their objective ? the ouster of Thaksin.

The next rally is scheduled for February 26.
