Police Officer involved in Pattaya Station shooting "retires"

PATTAYA: -- As the case of the Police Senior Sergeant Major, accused of firing a shotgun at the apartment of the Police Station Chief early on New Year’s Day continues, news has reached us confirming the 56 year old officer has been forced to retire following orders from the National Police Chief, despite the fact that he vehemently denies allegations of being involved in the shooting.

The case which is becoming more complex as the days go on, continued on Friday Morning as the officer, Police Senior Sergeant Major Tippasit, presented himself at Pattaya Police Station to confirm his claim that he could not have conducted the shooting as he was on-duty at the time at the Bali Hai Port for the New Year Countdown Festival and then, later on New Year’s Day went on a trip with his family, returning on 3rd January when he found out about the shooting.

So he just retires? He didnt do anything, but will take retirement! Thats a laugh. Actually its a laugh on both sides, anyone can shoot out windows on the streets of Pattaya, no problem, just retire, then come back in a few months, and we will rehire you!

Regardless of my views on the character of these people who wear the uniform, I would imagine that they would be remiss if they did not handle this delicately due to the possibility that every single police officer is standing in the wings and waiting for the out come on this. It is possible that the top dogs realize that whatever their decision, they will be sending a message to their subordinates in the event of future internal angst against the system.

With that said, it is regrettable that this person is being treated as a police officer rather than as a regular citizen of the Kingdom of Thailand. It sends a message to the people that "We are different than you, and hence we have our own set of laws and methods to deal with our own, regardless of the deed they commit." Allowing him to retire and possibly (they didn't say) keep his pension really puts an exclamation mark on the general belief that they protect their own and do not abide by the same laws that they expect civilians to abide by.

This simply further distances the general population from their local law enforcement because you've got people who adamantly ignore the truth and instead resort to their own standards, and then expect the masses to exercise faith and trust in them.

...the question is......what really happened.....there was a serious incident involving a police chief and a shotgun blast in his home...so just forget it now...???

I feel sorry for the man

It would have been even nicer if the entire Pattaya police force were to retire ? The recent downward spiral into shootings, violence, crime, mishaps makes one wonder if Pattaya does have a police force or simply Leggo men.

Obviously their Trained Detectives were able to track down the culprit & because of his devotion to duty over the years forgave him this minor slip & let him retire gracefully.

Gee , just like the Australian Cops in NSW , Victoria, Queensland (In Particular) & various Cities like New York world wide

Although I don't think shooting up the Chiefs residence would be acceptable anywhere but Pattaya

Ya just gotta love this place , the incidents are very different & lately Lots of Guns involved ,but the reporting of them is the most entertaining anywhere I have been
