Boxes (Cardboard) - Where To Buy

Featured Replies

I often send friends /family stuff through the post. I know the post office have a good selection, but often I need some that are strange sizes - like paper umbrellas, rolls of material etc

Is there anywhere that has a selection of strange size boxes and even normal boxes. I don't mind buying in bulk if necessary.

I've tried all the usual; Makro, Office Depot, stationery stores etc. No luck.

Any suggestions?

I don't know about strange boxes or what you're saying but for regular multi purpose cardboard boxes go in there and turn left there's a number of shops that sell cardboard boxes. Also Nim See Seng in the area sell boxes.

I'm trying to understand where you mean on your google map link. When I open it, it is just a map of greater Chiang Mai with many pinned places. Thanks.

Thanks for that ARISTIDE. I've been through there a few times and looked around (although not real carefully). My observation was they specialize in boxes for shipping by truck or other freight (i.e. strong, large boxes) and not for post which need to be smaller and lighter.

cmsally we order boxes from a place across from the soi leading to the Oriental Dara Devi (but about 50-100 meters up - towards the city) if that makes sense - admittedly I've had a couple... biggrin.png You can order any size you like custom made for you. But the minimum order is 100 pcs. Not expensive - about 4 THB per piece. (I have their card somewhere if further info is needed). But I tend to look for 20-30 of a few different sizes which are hard to come by here.

There is a place in San Kamphaeng, they are excellent......they can make any size for you and also a variety of thicknesses. You can also choose the design of the box.

They generally will not do 'one off's' but they will happily do a run of say 20 boxes in a particular size. They make the boxes onsite. Very friendly and helpful, I have dealt with them for years. No one speaks English there, so you really need a Thai speaker to translate.

I have even seen (for those from the UK) "NEXT" shop furniture boxes in there for one of their furniture ranges, that is obviously made here somewhere!

Here is their location

Thanks for that. We have tried a number of factories in San Khampaeng over the years, but I don't think we have used this one. As far as the boxes with logos for European and other companies, I never understood the whole thing -- I often see box orders at the shop I mentioned above for Swiss, German, Japanese, and a whole other lot of companies that (as far as I know) have nothing to do with manufacturing in Thailand or Chiang Mai. Maybe certain parts made here are being shipped to the companies?

Whenever I need cardboard boxes I buy them at Rimping. I pick out the sizes I want and they charge 10 baht per kilo.

Try www.http://lannainterpack.com

or

I go to the a place thats near the flower market near lotus. On the way out of the city from the moat as you go towards Lotus, when you get to the second light where all the Bars and Restaurants start, turn right. On your left will be a white building with enough parking for 1 or 2 vehicles. Park in there. They have just about everything in any quantity you like.

Their prices are almost double many other places. They are a retailer of the packing materials and don't have their own factory (to the best of my knowledge). But they are handy if you need to pick up some materials and are not ordering on a regular basis.
