We're off to P/Penh very soon and I noticed in my Air Asia ticket that the Cambodian Departure Tax (Passenger Service Fee) is included.

Just to check, I called Air Asia and was told that it is not included and I have to pay cash (US$25 per person) on departure.

I thought this strange, so I got the missus to call A/A and ask in Thai. She was told that it is included in the ticket and no payment is needed at PNH!!

I went A/A online chat and was told that it is not included,

2:1

but the A/A website says it is.

2:2 (after extra time!)

Do these people know what they're doing!!?? Surely it's a simple yes/no answer?

Can anybody who has exited PP recently please tell me if you have to pay cash on departure or not.

Thanx

Hi

I went and returned from there August last year.

Neither myself nor my Thai GF paid any departure tax at PP.

Flights were with Air Asia.

I can give you a fairly authoritative answer on that one

I flew back with AA from PP in November. Departure tax is not required for AA (and probably for any airline) now. I know because I specifically asked a man at a Departure Tax window - "Do I have to pay departure tax with AA, because last year I did not have to pay with Bangkok Airways but I did with AA". He said that Bangkok Airways was one of the first to include deaprture tax in the ticket price but Air Asia has gone over to that system too now. I 95% sure he said that all airlines included it in the ticket price now (I remember thinking - so why do they still have a departure tax window!?)

Be forewarned to have correct change ($20 USD) for arrival visa. On my last visit my buddy presented a $100 US bill and was told, no have change, can pay 1,000 thai baht.

Yeah, no change- the previous 10 applicants paind with $20 bills :)

YES departure tax is included in the ticket with Air Asia.

I came back in December 2012.

And YES Air Asia are hopeless, if it were not for their cheap fares, i would not fly with them.

During the flight to PP i read in their book that you DO have to pay for the departure tax.

I thought that was strange because i went there last year( Jan 2012) and DID NOT have to pay.

Also i sent them many emails and NEVER got a response.

And it is impossible to get through to them on the phone.

And i have flown with them MANY times, their after sales service is really bad.

Came back yesterday

Departure tax is included in ticket

I'm taking my Thai gf there in march, just a clarification if you don't mind:

Is it just one passport photo I need along with my passport and $20 to automatically get a visa?

Cheers

Just back from PPenh (26 January) and here's the latest:

1. On the flight to PP, Air Asia staff hand out 3 forms: Cambodian Arrival cards, Visa on Arrival forms and Customs forms.

2. As a foreigner, you need to complete all 3 forms, but your Thai g/f or wife does NOT need to complete the Visa on Arrival form. The AA staff insisted my missus had to, but on arrival the Immigration said no as Thailand is a member of ASEAN. She'll have to complete the other 2, though.

3. Don't forget a passport sized photo for your VOA form and $20 for a tourist visa. Try to have exact change.

4. And NO, there is no more Departure tax to be paid on departure. It's included in your ticket.

5. A taxi to the centre is $9, a tuk tuk is $7 but a tuk tuk just outside the main gate can be got for $5.

6. A litre of Jim Beam in a local mini mart on Street 51 was $9.50. At PP airport, it was $21!!!!! Great savings, but you'll have to pack it carefully in your cargo luggage. There is nothing decent or good value airside, so if you're hungry, there's a Pizza Company & a Dairy Queen before check in.

Hope this helps!!

AA = American Airlines. They do not fly to PNH.

FD = Thai Air Asia. I think this is the airline you mean.

If you do not want to wait in line for the Visa on Arrival, you can make an eVisa in advance.

Yep, as I said in line 2: .............On the flight to PP, Air Asia staff.......

I don't want to appear to be picky, but you said The AA staff insisted....

It's irrelevant though. We know now what you meant.
