Eeew .... I've Got A Sticky Helmet.

Featured Replies

I was annoyed when the soles fell off my Triumph Gore-Tex boots because they couldn't take tropical conditions - but now my Caberg Breeze helmet has got a permanent sticky finish. The matt silver finish and the plastic side pods feel sticky to touch and using polish or plastic pan scrubbers makes no difference.

I guess it's the heat again? Not sure if it's still safe to use if the plastic is degrading?

Should we be keeping our expensive lids in the fridge??

Take it back to Stadium or offer to return it to Caberg for examination.

First step in cleaning rub it all over with medical alcohol. If that doesn't remove the stick stuff rub it all over with turps. LEAVE OUTSIDE EITHER WAY AS ITS SMELLY! If that doesn't work spray with WD40 or similar and rub. Still there? Use the stuff they clean fuel injectors with.....at your own risk! It can eat into some types of plastic.

May sound daft but spay WD40 or Sonex on it and wipe clean. If it doesn't fix it, back it. smile.png

Thanks for the suggestions - I'll try them over the weekend.

The helmet is 3 years old - so I guess it was in need of replacement soon anyway - but the local ones don't inspire much confidence so I prefer the imported ones - but this one seems to struggle with the heat.
