NBTC speeding up 4G bidding process

post-36914-0-91470100-1358319930_thumb.j

BANGKOK, 16 January 2013 (NNT) - The National Broadcasting Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has announced that it is speeding up the process for the 4G bidding, while also expanding the mobile telecommunication system to local communities.

The NBTC has announced its strategy for this year, declaring 2013 to be the year of consumer protection. It has also revealed that over the past one year, the NBTC has set up several regulations on frequency allocation as well as on telecommunication and broadcast for operators to follow. This year, the focus is on giving consumers more rights by making it much easier for people to register their complaints.

In addition, it is promoting and supporting the shift from analog to digital television. The commission expects to hold a bidding for digital television channel by the second quarter.

As last year the NBTC held the 3G auction, this year it is working to prepare for the 4G bidding to push the Thai mobile communication to another level. At the same time, it will also expand telecommunication accessibility to more remote areas across Thailand.

So, 11 years after it's introduction, Thailand get's 3G.

How many years before 4G (LTE) becomes real?

So BTWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAYYYYY, … why is everybody in the Thai Telecom industry so silent about the "OFFICIAL (<-not yet, yet, yet.....) APPROVAL FOR 3G" for almost 3 months now, since the last court ruling?

Shall we wait for another 6 months because something in the last finalization process in the committee is going wrong again???cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

Again? That was a quick few billion made on the last Dutch Auction. I wonder if the winning Telco's are stupid enough to throw more money in at 4G, just as 5G is about to run or should they wait? Talk about a scam... come in spinner...

Love it!

Love it!

I hate it...cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

By Jove I think your on to some thing here.cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

Actually they are really doing every thing in there power to stop the 4G from happening. they figure the longer they can hold it off the more money in there pocket when they do let it go to bid. Defiantly before the next election. Can't take a chance on different people in office.whistling.gif

So why bother with 3G if they had everyones interests at heart.. just go straight in for 4G ??

My question also. Anyone have an answer?

They know it will take a few more years to get to 4G, no matter how quickly the government say it will happen.

This is great news, now all the bugs with the 3G auction are sorted it should be a non issue for 4G licenses to be issues so that wonderful Thailand can one of the smart countries with 4G.

There really is no reason to Delay the 4G roll out.

The Thai government telecom organization relealize, they ARE actually lagging behind other Asian and international countries, so they just verbally mention "Let's go into 4G" because they cannot risk to lose face.cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

But ironically all those delays and internal under the table money corruption bidding has made Thailand's telecommunication structure lose face a million times already, so that's why one must wonder, what else is there to lose in face cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

They have lost their sorry face for lifetime against themselves and against their angry customers, but those telecom rats don't want to admit it... cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

They need the frequencies back from 1/2G to allocate for 4G. My take has always been that they screwed up so badly on 3G then flog it off quick for whatever you can get and make the killing on 4G. Just a shame that there are a few non believers throwing up obstacles like court cases. Obviously they are never going to own up to selling it cheap as it is almost worthless. Damm face keeps getting in the way of good business.

Cheers

I've read this a few times and can't quite parse it. What is "get's" a contraction of? Perhaps "gets its 3G"?

Uh... disregard that. I now realize it was probably just a typo.

I like how they try to appear forward thinking and progressive, but this was what other countries (even neighboring) discussed in 2006...

Unfortunately in a face saving society it's always Government official-(criminals) first, and customers lastwhistling.gifwhistling.gifwhistling.gifwhistling.gif
