Anyone had any of this done at their house / business?

Any tips on who does it here much appreciated.

Finding it hard to get much info on it here. And I've noticed its everywhere now, tried asking some business that have it (Rimping, Big C) etc, no joy.

for a huge amount of money I can get my kid to come from Canada and do it.

It may be cheaper to pay the Canadian flights than getting it done locally. As long as he brings some of that A grade maple syrup with him that is.

Going to cost you guys a lot of diamonds.

Seriously the concrete companies would know who does it.

I would recommend mixing the color in with the concrete. You need a set of scales to weigh it if it takes more than one load of concrete. With scales you can be assured of a consistent color. Or you can spread the color on it and then float it into the top of the concrete but over the years it will fade.

They then will spread a releasing agent on it for the pads. You can choose a different color for it and that is how you get the two tone.Keep us posted on your search.

Stamped concrete I just sent them en email asking about cost since I have no idea on cost

Yes I heard best to mix in the color for longevity although seems the company mentioned does not do it that way

I Think you are going to be a bit surprised at how much it costs. I asked around a couple years ago and decided against it. If you have it done, be sure to have the dirt "compacted" and not just poured over spread dirt.

We had WinFlor do our stamped concrete driveway two years ago. Beautiful job!

Yes, it's expensive.

I think when stamped concrete gets more expensive than heavy outdoor tiles then it stops making sense.

BTW the shop mentioned above is located at the DK Book Store parking lot, left side as you drive in.

By heavy outdoor tiles do you mean pavers?

I have yet to see a paving job done well here, unfortunately.

Have you had some stamped concrete work done? Or is it being expensive just what you heard?

Got Winfloor coming out to give us a quote today. They were the only ones that answered the email, and got straight into it.

Don't know about costs not my job but have done the instalation of both. The number 1 thing no matter what you do is as jimmym40 said get your base compacted solidly. With the pavers make sure it is level all over as a dip will show. We always used an inch of loose sand to lay the pavwers on. Thgen broomed some finishing sand into the joints and we had 6 pieces of cheap plywood we would lay on top of the pavers then run a plate tamper over them. A lot of companies didn't use the plywood.

The nice part about pavers is they can be taken out and replaced if they break of sink, Getting them out and back in is harder than the original installation.

With the stamped concrete you need not be so fussy about getting your base all perfectly level. What we would do with stamp concrete was put some 6 by 6 wire mesh in it.

Then come back about two days later and put in saw cuts at obvious week spots and in general try to keep them no more than 10 feet apart.

Do you mean sand wash / pebble mix ?

From what i have seen of it here it goes a slimy green / black with the rain.

Everyone i know that has it has said to avoid it.

Went to have a look at one of the TV members house / driveway today done in stamped concrete by Winfloor, very nice work indeed.

Exposed aggregate,

Screeded off then nice stones are thrown across the surface (seeded) then the floated up. steel float. Then surface is sprayed with retardant (cordial) and then when the rest of the screed has gone off then the top 5~8 mm is washed away with low pressure.

It looks Ok, but i think i would be hard pressed to find anyone here that can do it.

Think I'll stick with the stamped concrete idea, looks much neater.

They did, when i wasn't there (at the advice of another TV poster)...

600 baht a Sqm.

So my 200 Sqm = 120,000

A touch cheaper than i expected.

Australia = 110 AUD per Sqm

UK = 50-65 GBP

So will be going ahead with it, later.

Yes mate, from scratch, bare soil.

A mate with me today said 600 baht per Sqm was cheaper than what he had done down south.

And I've seen their work over the last few days, top notch.

I think I will have to get them out to quote me since my driveway is already there so they just have to add a layer on top and then stamp it Im guessing that since the driveway is already there it will be cheaper ?
