Should I Buy New If I Can Afford It?

Featured Replies

My family and I are moving to Thailand soon. Seeing the used car prices online has given me pause to think I should just go new. Can afford to do so without finance...

Thoughts? What's the depreciation like on a new car after 12 months?

Would be looking at a extended cab pickup.

Depreciation on new Toyota or Isuzu will be something like 10%.

So IMO: yes, buy new here.

Yes buying new is good as most thais i know of do not service their cars much

only problem with new is how long you might have to wait to get it?

As i have heard stories of upto a year!

so ask before you buy?

Yes new and if whoever it was posts that picture of the civics being repaired again you will certainly be convinced of buying new, but of course make sure you can get your visas first.

Extra-cab pickups have phenomenally good resale value in TH, regardless of brand - it makes no logical sense to buy used if you can afford new (which will normally also include 16-20K THB worth of free insurance too, just to add icing to the cake).

Thanks for the replies.

One other question then. On the manufacturer websites, are prices listed all inclusive, or will taxes etc be payable on top of them?

Thanks :)

When you get here ask again, but prices are inclusive but you can go for discounts etc. smile.png
