66-year-old Canadian man kills himself after shooting 2 people dead at a court in the Philippines

CEBU CITY: -- A Canadian man has opened fire in a Philippine court, killing two people and wounding another, reports say.

The incident took place in Cebu city on Tuesday morning. Reports say the man was facing charges of malicious mischief filed by his neighbours.

The suspect, John H. Pope, appeared in court in central Cebu city, where he lived, to face the charges when he pulled out a gun and shot a lawyer and a physician who filed a case against him, police said.

That's it last nail in the coffin I'm moving to...oh wait.

The article says he killed himself, the article in the link says:

"He then fired at a prosecutor in the hallway of the building before responding police fatally wounded him, said Cebu police chief Mariano..."

Is it so difficult to get the facts right????

In today's TV mailing there are stories about an Australian, a Thai actor, an American and a Canadian involved in shooting incidents. Apparently the gospel according to the American NRA is spreading far and wide. If the law isn't working to your advantage or someone annoys you, do the brave thing ... use a gun to demonstrate how right you are. Collateral damage to be dismissed as just one of those things.

Strange how he can take a gun into court, when everyone entering a mall in cebu gets a "pat down".

Oh no! Here we go again. Blame it on the Americans when dealing with guns. Hell why don't we just blame everything on the Americans because other countries are so kind, crime free, and perfect.

Crazy world. What a response to "malicious mischief?"

Canadian national kills 2 in Philippine courtroom before shooting self < br />

2013-01-24 09:21:16 GMT+7 (ICT)

CEBU CITY, PHILIPPINES (BNO NEWS) -- A Canadian national on Tuesday shot and killed two people at a Philippine courtroom before killing himself, local authorities said Wednesday.

The suspect was identified as John Pope, 66, who arrived for a court hearing in Cebu City in the Philippines' Central Visayas at around 8 a.m. local time. He was being tried for a 'mischief,' which was filed by Dr. Rene Rafols.

Pope, a resident of Cebu for 10 years, entered the court room before shooting and killing Rafols, as well as lawyer Julian Atias, Seniro Superintendent Mariano Natuel told local media.

Following the fatal shootings, Pope entered another court room and shot Prosecutor Maria Theresa Casiño, who was injured but survived. Pope continued walking when police officers encountered him and opened fire, injuring the suspect. After falling to the floor, Pope fatally shot himself.

Several complaints had been filed against Pope, who had been previously tagged as an undesirable alien. He was facing deportation from the Asian country, but he had appealed, which bought him more time in the country.

Following the incident, court rooms around the country stepped up security measures.

Philippines....Canadian

I think they were right when they tagged him an idiot they didn't need in the first place, they can now ad a murdering monster to his gravestone.

Can't believe it, Pope John did this; I've thought he died some time ago? Wasn't his real name Woitila?

Probably why he ended himself. Nothing to go home to. He thought his life was over, so he made it so. Just too bad he had to take others with him.
