There was an article in the financial times earlier this week by Amy Kazmin who predicted this might happen.

I am willing to wager he wins - maybe with reduced support but still a majority. Of course we know its still money politics but both sides play by this in Thailand

Its a very canny political move by old Taksin - early enough not to let the oposition grow and appealing to the whole country and not just the urban middle classes.

Not exactly news - smart move. Force elections and if he wins again then his critics are muzzled for good. :o
