I saw it too. It was a Navy chopper. Flew very low right over my house. Looked like it was about to land. Probably some Thai politician coming for a visit.

Okay now two more Navy choppers. One an old Huey.

I went and asked one of the officers in Thai what the problem was? I gathered that one of the royals is coming for a visit, not today though. They were checking out and securing a landing area for the chopper.

Usually in the past when a princess came for a visit it was by a mini bus caravan. Now I guess even the royals know that the traffic in Phuket sucks and would rather arrive by Navy chopper. Must be nice!

Canadian Navy ship has been in Patong bay all week, not sure if they are connected but was a few helicopters buzzing around over the weekend here also!

These were Thai Navy helicopters. Did you see the Canadian helicopters flying? It would be rather unusual for that to happen, unless on joint exercises, which I doubt around Patong. I have heard there aren't any truly civilian helicopters in Thailand. A friend that works with the biggest rock star in Thailand; Carabao, who wanted to buy one, but was denied by the Thai government. I also know a guy who is a certified large yacht captain who has a helicopter pilot's license. He told me he couldn't fly the one that was on the boat the he was skippering here. Not allowed in Thai air space.

Saw 6 highway patrol cars escorting a single mini bus & 1 car this morning on Chao Fa West. Thought it was way over the top then thought it might be practice or training & the OP seems to confirm it.

They are practicing for the new Airport 120 Baht busbiggrin.png

Some PTP guys are in town for whatever reason.

It was reported over at the other place thats not to be mentioned a couple of days ago.

Edit. Something to do with the corruption involved in building police stations and police housing. 6 billion baht rip off.

No. As I said one was an old Huey and the other was a larger transport. Not sure who the manufacturer was of that one was. Both grey with Navy printed on them. As I said, an officer I talked to said it had to do with a royal visit that would happen soon.

I do know the princess is in Takua Pa today. So would not surprise me at all if she's visiting Phuket as well.
