Popular Post samran
For the sake of posterity, I thought I might let people know how to move your yellow Tabieen Baan, if case you ever need to move house. We just did this last week, given my wife (the foreigner) is on the yellow book. Unlike Thai citizens, who can simply turn up to their new ampur and be shifted onto a new house registration (with the permission of the ‘gao baan’ or head of house), for foreigners the rules are a little different. At the ‘old’ ampur In the case of the foreigner, you need to go to your existing ampur and tell them you are moving. You also need to bring along the head of your soon to be former house, as well as both blue and yellow versions of the tabieen baan for the old place. The head of house is needed as they need to formally ask that you be moved away. They should bring their ID card as well Also bring along a copy of the new blue book of the house you are moving too, as the officials will need the details. It goes without saying to bring your passport along too. The old ampur will give you two copies of a ‘bai yai’ – essentially a piece of official paper saying that the registered person has now left the old residence and will be moving to the new place. They’ll return your ‘old’ yellow book, updating that you have moved away from the old address. At the new ampur. Take the two ‘bai yai’ forms, yourself, your new head of household (along with their ID and blue book). Yourself and your passport. The new ampur will take the two forms, ask the permission from the new head of household and update the system. A new yellow book will then be presented to you.

hansnl
Thanks, might be handy when i need to change address in a couple of years. Hilarious! You think in a few years the rules will still be the same? Anyway, as is the rule in Thailand, different Amphur's different ideas. It is whispered to me, the above mentioned procedure is the same for Thai persons. But, rules and regulations can be explained differently, and are there to ignore, or bend, or shaped in a personal way. Anyway, if you have a yellow tambien baan, on any Amphur, police station, land transport office anywhere in Thailand type in your Thai ID-number, and presto, there you are. Picture if you have a driving license, all your particulars, fingerprints, DNA-profile if they ever took that trouble, criminal register (if any), cars and motorcycles in your name, the lot! So why this procedure? Anyway, when I moved town, just went with the wife and old TB's to the new Amphur, and 20 minutes later stood outside One new blue TB for the wife and one new yellow TB for me. The old ones were stanped void.\ PS I heard from a police colonel the immigration registers will be coupled, or are coupled, to the Amphut registration.
