Getting 15 Months Out Of 12 Month Visa B

Thanks for all the replies on Non Immigrant B - I have decided against that course of action.

My current Non Immigrant B expires at the end of March this year. I am currently in the last three months of the 12 month visa. I have heard that I may be able to get a further 3 months, making the 12 month visa actually worth 15.

Is this true? If so, how do I make sure this happens?
