How Many Days Do You Have To Leave The Country If Your Visa Is Denied

Featured Replies

Do they give you 14 days or do you immediately go on overstay?

You go immediatly on overstay, but can get an extra 7 days for 1,900 baht. (60 days if you are married to a Thai national or have a Thai child).

Depending on your nationality, you can just cross the border and return to Thailand.

You normally can not get a visa while you are in Thailand, so I'm not sure that I understand your question. If you apply for an extension, 1900 baht, and it is denied, you are normally given 7 days to leave.

If you fail to obtain a new visa from a Consulate you could enter for allowed visa exempt of your nationality - which for most is 15 days by land or 30 days by air.

failing getting a new visa stamp, just make your way to airport asap and pay your overstay fee there. i stupidly overstayed twice by 2-3 days a few years ago and i paid the fine/fee at airport.

Extensions of stay are seldom denied after paying the fee. Before paying the fee they will review your application and supporting documents and reject your application at that time or ask for more supporting documents.

Going early for the extension (2 weeks is a good number) is always advised so if you need more paperwork or they find you are not qualified for the extension you have time to leave the country.

Poster is talking about a visa denial from a Consulate outside Thailand (he has had 3 entries and will not believe he can obtain another). If Consulate would not issue a tourist visa (highly unlikely - unless he has a longer history than he has mentioned) he could still return on whatever visa exempt entry his nationality allows.

I saw no information in his OP that it was a real visa application. And he also mentioned an overstay.

In answer to the visa issue.

The same thing applies because normally they would refuse the visa application before taking the fee. But most consulates would issue the visa an put the notorious red stamp telling them not to come back.

Not today.

Answered a question he posted yesterday.

But you do have to admit his topic title was misleading.

Yes indeed.
