My DVD player is driving me nuts.

Most of a movie I watch plays fine and then .....

It begins stopping (for 2-10 seconds) and then starting.

One misses the action/dialog in the 'off' period.

It does this with most to all DVDs I play.

All the DVDs play fine on my laptop DVD player.

I have looked for a tracking adjustment or some other adjustment

without success.

Any suggestions ??

Don't know how old your machine is or even more important how many DVDs you've played. You should be able to get a DVD cleaner disk, someone may know where. I have a CD cleaner CD and perhaps that type can work in the player. Some have a playable track on it so the player thinks it has something useful in it and when it runs cleans the optics.

Worst case scenario buy a new one - dvd players are so inexpensive these days, so not even worth the bother to be fiddling.
