Hi guys,

wondering if you could help me.

my partner and I are hoping to get married this year. He's Thai and I'm a foreigner.

I've contacted my consulate and can get the paperwork from there and the translations done rather easy.

What I'm wondering about is, can one send these documents in the post to the MFA to get legalised, rather than having to travel all the way to BKK??

Or does anyone know a reliable company that doesn't cost an arm and a leg that you could send your paperwork too that could go on your behalf to get the legalising done. Both of us work and have just started new jobs so taking time off isn't too easy.

Any ideas would be great. I hope everyone is well.

Where do you live?

Normally the translation agency can take care of that.

As said, normally the translation agancy can take of that for you. But if you want, there is a procedure to do it by mail, describes on the webiste of the Thai consular department.

Note that there is also a consular department in Chiang Mai, you do not have to use BKK for legalisation of documents.

I'm in the south. I have a consulate in PHuket that I can use for my paperwork and also a translator there. I'll get my BF to ring the translator and see if they can also do the legalisation.

Hopefully they can, if they can't do you have a link to an English version of the consular department website, can't read thai :( not yet anyway.

Thanks for all the help

Have a look here: http://www.consular.go.th/main/th/services/1303

The procedure for applying by mail should also be described there
