Clogged Drain

Featured Replies

I have a partially clogged bathroom sink drain. I have a package of Mr. Muscle drain declogger beads, but the directions are completely in Thai. What is the correct way to use this product?

Have you tried a rubber plunger yet? A vital tool in every Thai household as everything is shoved down drains just to dispose of unwanted stuff.

Sorry ,I cannot help you with the "declogger beads" but i guess it would be caustic soda. Wear gloves and mask to be safe.

Throw a cup full beads into drain, add a cup of warm water and leave standing for 30 - 60 min, after that ad water to get the stuff further down the drain. It all depends where the blockage is. Repeat if necessary, during the night would be a good time, when drain is not used.

Cheaper and always works! Buy a bag of Soda-Flakes (Fai-Soda or Soda-Fai / 45 Baht) in a hardware shop, market or Big C. Pour a good half cup or more into/onto the drain. Flush with min. 5 L of very hot water (boiling!) Step back, it will react strongly and protect your eyes, don't get on your hands. Then flsuh a bit more with just hot tap water. Job done. DO NOT use cold water or it will be even worse afterwards!
