Tooth Replacement / Implant At St Louis Hospital Price And Experiences + At Other Dentists Too

Hi

I just broke off a front tooth and will need to have it replaced , probably with a implant as I do not want to have dentures,

So has anyone had a tooth implant in BKK and can you tell me what the cost is and how long it takes ,

and if I can do it in 2 - 2 1/2 weeks

I was planning on going to St Louis hospital as I have had good service there for some skin problems ., and so far the prices have been good,

I know prices can very , I just am looking for a price range....

I am just a little scared of going to the dentist as I have put it off for way to long

Check with Bangkok Smile Asoke. An implant and a crown on top is from 65000 baht. The titanium implant placement is only an hour but then you need to return in a few months to have a crown fit on top of an implant.

A dentist shop in soi26 sukumvit,"sorry" don't know the name.

There was also a thread running last year on this subject,where one TV member,recommended a lady dentist,I think in chonburi, who charged 35000bht.

At the other end of the scale,I know of one dentist on sukumvit who charges 95000bht for the same procedure.

There have been many prior threads on implants, do a search in this forum under "dental implant" and you will find many threads with reports of various people's experiences.

In addition to the various places in Bkk, Phnom Penh is also an option and costs a bit less for top quality work. Many people don't realize it, since the quality of medical care there is still sub-par, but PP has international standard dental services and is a dental tourist destination. Roomchang Dental Hospital being the best.

seems that the price in BKK at 60K baht is about the same as it is in California !

Since I will have to come back in 4-6 months to get them finished I would rather do that in BKK than in China or Cambodia

It just seems like a lot of Baht , I wonder what the titanium stud costs ? I already have a good drill

Yes, implants do not cost that much less here than in the West. This is true of anything where a significant portion of the cost is the material itself.

I will be in BKK in 3 weeks so I can check at St Louis Hospital, they do not have a price list on the website and they have never been good with emailing anyway,

So I do not know what they charge as a base price for screw in implant and crown

From my experience of dentists they will charge pay-as-you-go. So it depend on how many visits and what procedures you have.

In my case the total time from first visit, then extraction, then fitting the implant, then fitting the cap, followed by final checks was close to 3 months. I had to wait for infection in the tooth socket to clear before they could proceed. Best to follow the advice of the dentist.

It was about 8 years ago. Cost then was about 70,000 baht.

Of course then you could get nearly 75 baht to the pound. Now it's close to 45.

Health care costs in Thailand have gone up dramatically in recent years so I wouldn't set much store on costs from more than a year ago, especially at a private facility.

The least expensive option for dental work is the Mahidol Dental Hospital which is somewhere around Victory Monument on Ratachatewi. Long waits and red tape, and the work will be done by students/interns/residents, but under supervision and quality is usually good. For slightly more money you can attend an "after hours" clinic 4 - 8 PM Monday - Friday where you may be able to get a fixed appt and be treated by one of the faculty.

The savings will only be on labor though so if implants, there will still be the cost of the implants themselves which is considerable. No way to avoid that no matter where you go.
