Child Extension At Phibum Mangsahan

Featured Replies

Hi Just got back from the imm at Phibum. I went to get the requirements for a extension of stay based on my children, i was told i needed 400k in my bank for 3 months.

When i said i dont want a marriage extension and the first year should only be 2 months in a bank she said yes 2 months same for marriage and child extension for which i told her the money does not have to be seasoned for a child extension.

She just smirked and laughed wouldnt look at me and just spoke Thai to my wife, and gave her a form which she said contained all the things i need. When my wife read it it was just for marriage extension.

Before people ask yes i was very polite no raised voices. So i dont know where i can go with this now. I dont want to get the marriage extension as i dont want to tie 400k down for 2-3 months.

Any suggestions would be grateful as i only have 90 days left on my non imm O visa left. Thanks.

You have to apply at the office that covers your area.

So if bank deposit seasoning is what they want , you have little choice even though they are wrong.

As you are Married they probably want you to do the Marriage Extension.

You could always try talking to her boss.

That is the office for my area, and i think she was the boss

Actually they do not seem to be wrong but require a married couple to use Thai wife extension of stay if wife is Thai. That is what requires the account money seasoning. Believe this is normal policy.

So your saying while im still married and living with my Thai wife i cannot do the child extension.

That seems to be the policy from most reports I have seen. Normally child extension is viewed with extreme suspicion by immigration who often feel it is used to stay in Thailand when no other means is available. It seems if you actually do have another valid reason they want to use that.

Thank you for clarifying that for me.

The way the rules are written the extension based upon having a Thai child is only for single parents not married couples.

If you need more time to have the money in the bank for 60 days then you could get a 60 day extension to visit your wife and children.
