Visarun From Khorat

Featured Replies

Some friends moved to Khorat and would like to know how to do their VisaRun.

Any suggestions are welcomed.

Thank you

used to do a bus from Nakorn Ratchasima to Udon Thani, about five hours, stay the night in cheap hotel next to Robinsons, then maybe an hour by bus and tuk-tuk to Nong Kai border/friendship bridge. Then visa on arrival for Laos entry and can walk back around to Thai side or go on to Vientienne for day or night. Can then bus back to Udon or Nakorn R. No big problems but sometime long queue to get into laos. There are express buses from Udon to Vientienne (and back) but think you have to get your visa for Laos before you go as they don't like to hang around at the border. Vietienne Thai embassy will usually issue single entry tourist visa if you have a Western passport but takes at least two days. All this about eighteen months ago but have not read anything different.

Thank you for input.

Means no company and have to do yrself. That is fine.

Option are 1.) go via BKK companies.

2.) Laos as you suggested

or3.) try to catch bus to SaKaew, continue to Aran and to borderPoipet.

It depends what you mean by "visa run".

If it means obtaining a new tourist visa then Vientienne is the way to go.

If it means only leaving the country and returning to obtain another entry stamp on your current visa, or to obtain a further 30 day stamp, then Chong Chom border crossing (Surin Province) is the way to go.
