February 19, 201313 yr I live in Muang Lampang and the cycle shops don't have that much choice of accessories. I would be grateful for shop recommendations in Chiang Mai.
February 19, 201313 yr There's a good list here: http://www.chiangmaicycling.org/bicycleshops.html Velo City, imho has the best selection of accessories. They recently moved to a new location on Huay Kaew Rd, halfway from Nimmanhaemin to Canal Rd. Jacky also has a good selection. they're a Pro Bike / Trek / bontrager / Shimano dealer Chaitawat has a similar selection as Jacky TCA is the Campy dealer Most of the others on the list don't have much of a selection and I can't imagine how they would be worth the trip from Lampang.
February 21, 201313 yr While there are a good number of bicycle shops in Chiang Mai, they are all rather small, and I can't really say that any of them is particularly well stocked. The best ones for accessories are probably Jacky Bike at Nimmanhemin, Zone 2 at Sridonchai, and Cherry Bike at the Rd. 11 / Doi Saket Rd. intersection. Chances are that their assortments are limited to standard items and small sizes, so online ordering is perhaps the only option. For example, I am still looking for MTB touring shoes in my size and that Kryptonite u-shape lock in just the right size. Cheers, CM-Expat
February 26, 201313 yr If you come to the city over the weekend, there is a great chap called Lek / Lek Bike, who regularly opens his roadside stall as part of the Payap University (Nawarat Campus) 2nd hand weekend market. Market times are 9 - 5, sat and sun. The stall is at the end of Rattanakosin, right side of the road if you're heading NE, near 2 large 2nd hand bike yards, but more specifically next to a yen tau faw shop. I like his selection, and he's a nice guy to interact with. I think he has a pseudo shop near the railway station too on normal week days, but that's not so clear. Bike Mall, on Rat ChiengSaen -> Sridornchai (heading towards Pantip Plaza from the SE corner of the moat) has got pretty good accessories too. I just got some genuine OURY grips there. Some overlap with Lek Bike, such as Brooks saddles and Crane brass bells.
