aalek85th
And -- i have not yet met all 60 Mio Nigerians, but the ones in BKK dont leave a good name. They don't leave a good name, and usually they're up to no good.. but the point was, they aren't aggressive. They go on about their own business, and if somebody is enjoying drugs.. it's their business. I don't care about Nigerians being up to no good.. or some guy buying and smoking weed from these guys. Everybody have the right to do whatever they want, as long as they're not hurting anybody else. That's what democracy/freedom should be all about. You live your life, I'm gonna live my life. No judgement. So I say.. leave these guys alone. My contact with them is sometimes they say "wassup brother" while I walk. If I see a group of them in a bar, they just sit there drink couple of beers and not mix with anybody. Why would I have any problem with that ? And why people do have a problem with that ? These guys that where caught scamming people... I know quite a lot of white guys that where doing the same thing, even more complex and convulated than these Nigerians do/did. Some of them are still doing it, some got caught (talkinga bout floor level now). Edited February 21, 2013 by aalek85th
Pimay1
Well friends and neighbors the Nigerian scammers have started to become members of TVF. I received a pm from one last week, reported it to the mods and they banned him/her. He/she said. Hello dear, this message is not a spam or a scam message, I am 100% real (maybe he/she thought I would believe he was from Mars). I will offer you 15% for your help. Contact me on my email below for more details. [email protected] I tried to copy and paste the origional pm but it wouldn't let me do it. aalek85th
And just wanted to say... if white people where in the same boat as Nigerian people are now, they wouldn't be any better. Situations in life make people do all kind of stuff just to get some money for themselfs and their family back home. Food and water costs money, girls cost money, hospitals cost money, education costs money, so yeah.. not everything in life is about money, but without money .. you don't stand a chance. Some people maybe don't think like this, but I'm talking from personal experience as a white guy coming from shit poor country. It's 20x more difficult for a Nigerian guy to be legit, then it is for a "western" guy. And when it comes to BKK/Thai.. Black people are not really accepted around here, so they don't have whole lot of choice. You can always be a teacher... at least. He cannot. Payboy
I once had an e-mail from bankimoon at hotmail dot com. The postal address was in Lagos. Well, can't expect a guy to make ends meet on a UN pension.
MobileContent
I have employed a Nigerian for many many years. Never had a problem with him. I also know of 2 Nigerian's that work in Bangkok. One works for a five star hotel and one runs a jewelry company, exporting gem stones sourced from Chanthaburi to Dubai and Singapore. Met also Nigerian scammers but quiet easy to sort them out but I don't bash every Nigerian or African. The English have been running some of the biggest boiler-rooms in Asia but I still have a lot of friends that are English.
barmatt
Maybe it's just me - but I would really love to scam a Nigerian. Not for money - just for "revenge" from all the email spams. I'm not sure it's possible though. They seem to be masters. Check out this site the scammers get scammed. mca
BANGKOK: -- Acting on warrants issued by a Chiang Mai court, police in Bangkok have arrested three Nigerian men and one Thai woman who were accused of running an online fraud scheme out of the Bang Kapi area of Bangkok. They later released the trio of Nigerians without charge after being promised a 10% share of the $100 million that the late father ( and ex-government minister of Nigeria )of one of the accused managed to smuggle out of Iraq before Sadaam's downfall.
SparklingCascades
My family has businesses in Thailand & the Mekong countries. Dad has a 2-man team in each country to manage the Community Initiatives as part of keeping an image. A month back I was approached by a fellow soccer player from Sierra Leone who wanted rent money. It was a tiny amount - just THB 3,000 for one month. Said he would be okay to repay after some weeks. I gave him the phone number of our 'Community Initiatives' dept. Some days later I ran into the Manager who said that he is tired of charities (and churches) in Cambodia & Thailand referring help cases from Africa. He told me not to refer Africans to him as he says almost every day one or two contact the office for help - unlike maybe poms, yanks, euros......So I can understand the tone of some people writing here. I am told 80% of Africans who are referred by churches & charities come from Nigeria. So last week when a fellow soccer player from Nigeria asked me for "USD 50 or more" "urgent for rent & food" - I explained gently that I was only a student but I was happy to arrange with the abbot at a nearby Thai wat to give him a place to sleep for a month or two plus one or two meals a day. This Nigerian soccer mate was not happy and backed away. Some comments here call others expressing an opinion racist. I don't think people are being racist. People are simply saying that in percentage terms for every 100 Africans there seem to be 80 or 90 in trouble - far, far higher than the other foreigners in Thailand or even Thais. To try to stamp out honest debate by labeling opinions or experiences one may not like as "racist" is plain anal. People as free to be politically incorrect. Importantly only Thais have the final say of who comes to beg (or scam) in Thailand - even if such black and white thinking gets called racist. Why don't you want to scam Americans instead? Plenty of American scammers e.g. Madoff. This is racism at its worst. jamhar
THANK YOU! You guys (and gals) have brought a smaile to my day. Yes there were the typically expected narrow minded views. Some real and some trolling, i'm sure. But what was unexpected is the outcry of the moderate and positive viewpoints! And this was a tough topic to find positives from! I didnt have time to go thru and give you guys (and gals) likes, but i will. TL is a wonderful place. Great opportunity for both good and bad. Its an empty canvass that you can form to your will. its up to you. that is, if you can get thru the visa runs, occasional bribes to the police, heat, yada yada yada. Hey I said it was great, not heaven! Stay positive people. Its much better than the alternative!

Popular Post khaowong1
Had a friend of mine phone me the day after valentines day asking if it was normal to pay 25000 For a parcel from England!! I said no, and after getting a bit more information from her I told her it was a scam. Didn't stop her sister wanting to put up the money for the box. There will always be someone led by greed to keep this scum in a job.. I don't know how many Thai friends I have had to explain over and over how these scams work.. They still don't believe me. The greed of thinking they are going to get free money is just too much for them..

I'm not sure it's possible though. They seem to be masters. There is a web site (www.419eater.com/) that reports the hilarious antics of a guy who scams the scammers. He makes total fools out of them by using their own greed against them. If you got 45 minutes to listen to a report on one good story, listen here. They get a nigerian scammer to go all the way to chad then the border of Sudan to pick up money. Hobiecat
I didn't find may nice people what it's so easy to say all Nigerian's are bad, all of them should be banned, just because of some bad apples. Come mon guys, not all Nigerians are bad.Of course we all know about the scams and the drug delers and I hate those scammers and dealers like hell. BUT...I know a very nice Nigerian guy I use to play billiard with regularly. He is very kind and we talk to each other regularly about god and the world. He is married to a Thai and has two small kids. I know another Nigerian, that lives in the Philippines I also used to play with him, an owner of a nice restaurant. Both are kind guys I never had any problems with, and non of them tried to sell me any drugs lol.Come mon what do you say if someone in the West states that ALL Thai girls are prost... It's the same nonsense. You just can't generalize it. I didn't find to many nice guys when I was working in Lago's. Maybe that's why your two nice friends left. Let me tell you having front and back armed escorts driving to work everyday. (I'm not talking girls!) really sucked! Oh yes my friend, Nigerians are Baaaad Ass!
