Since the information I recieve from the Amphur is not always accurate or at least my understanding of it and I have always had correct information from the members here, I have a question about some recent information I recieved from the Amphur.

It was explained to me that since I am married to a Thai citizen and I have a Yellow Book I am allowed to visit Thailand whenever I choose and I can stay for 1 year and a visa is not required. I find this hard to believe. Has anyone here ever heard fo this?

Totally incorrect. All the yellow book does is show that you are officially registered at living at a particular address. It comes in handy when doing things that would normally require a letter from immigration such as getting a driving license, registering a motor vehicle in your name etc.

There is a huge thread on the forum somewhere that specifically deals with the yellow book questions.

You have been given misleading information, the only people who do not need a visa to visit Thailand for an extended period are Thai citizens.

Your informants might have been thinking about foreigners with a "Permanent Residence" book, PR, which allows them to stay here without a visa. Kind of an involved process to obtain this status and not always approved, my application a few years back wasn't.

You've are correct in finding it's hard to believe. The person who gave you the info at the amphur office probably funked the Immigration Office job application test but was able to pass the local amphur office job application test.
