fredjones
Hi Need some help pls. I am relocating to Thailand and am shipping my musical fidelity hifi equipment ( 6 years old A3.2CD, pre and power amp), wharfedale speakers, Marantz amplifier and Rel sub woofer. I am concerned about power supply differences between uk and thailand and what if anything I need to do to protect the hifi from power fluctuations and different power voltages, etc... Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also does anybody know a good hifi shop in Chiang Mai who could help me reinstall all the biwire and biamping cables, etc... Cheers
johng
I would worry much more about protecting your equipment from the "customs men" than the power supply which is 240v ( ish ) 50 hz same as the UK.
Crossy
Nominal power is the same, 220V 50Hz, so plug in and go. You'll probably want to install a power conditioner / voltage regulator and surge suppression kit. No idea about the cables I'm afraid.
astral
Draw a diagram and label the cables as you dismantle perhaps a photo or two, then reassembly should be straight forward.
craigt3365
Yes, good luck with customs. Prices and selection here are not very good. I got a very good power conditioner/surge protector from these guys: http://www.piyanas.com/en/index.php But it's for equipment made to operate with the power supply we have here. transam
Stuff here is cheap and everywhere as ''sounds'' are part of the culture. As stated above, you might be in for a shock with customs ''officials''.
fredjones
Thanks guys... I'll have to pickup a couple of high quality power boards... The customs is already sorted... got away ok...
