I am an expat working in Thailand since 1986. My residence and working permits are in order. In 1992 I signed a provisory working contract with my current employer. After the expiring date of this contract I continued working in the same position up till now. I had my annual augmentations is salary and everything.

The question I Would like to ask is whether under Thai law my old provisory contract still stands as being applicable to day. In other words since my employer did not draw up a new contract can I still fall back on my provisory working contract?

Could you tell me when I retire does Thai law foresee special measures towards the person who retires. For example do they have to pay X times his salary when he retires?

I would be very much obliged if you could answer these questions. If a meeting would be more convenient I will come over to Pattaya.

In this provisory contract was also mentioned a up-coutry allowance which I never received, as my employer claims the exchange diferances over 15 year can I claim this up-coutry allowace over 15 years?

Best regards,

DE KEYZER Georges :o

From my experiences Thai contract law is much the same as elsewhere.

IMHO your original contract still survives, if it has not been replaced

Especially if your employer is also relying on the terms of that contract.
