3Bb Box

Featured Replies

Finally got the 3BB 10m box deal ,instead of relying on condo hopeless WI FI

I have 2 computers and instead of using my own WI Fi I want to connect the 2 computers straight to the box, am I better doing it with a ADSL splitter,or a LAN splitter.

Thanks for anyone replying !!

Buy a switch and connect that to your ADSL modem

It depends on which router you got from 3bb .... the more expensive one has 2 LAN connections

I have a D-Link "DES-1005D 10/100 Fast Ethernet Switch". It is ancient. Still working fine but the PSU went pop a few years ago so I bought a cheap replacement. Both desk top and laptop connect to it.

+1 on the switch. Get a good well-respected brand such as Dlink, Linksys, SMC. Not TP-Link. Good cheap solution, used an SMC for years myself.

Sorry about double post - crappy internet, or v. slow TV server.

Thanks for the advice. Bought a splitter ADSL,but now I get the message another comp is sharing my IP address. I guess 2 comps will not work on a ADSL splitter,or do I have to do something else?. I will buy a more expensive router ,but tried the cheaper option first

We already told you what to do. Why not just do it and be happy.

Am happy, could be happier though if I could save on the box, realisation creeps in when its two whole whores time its costing for the box,why don't I just change the IP address on one of the comps and still use the splitter?

An ADSL splitter is a cheap little box that splits phone line so that you can use an analog telephone at the same time as an ADSL modem. It has got nothing whatsoever to do with networking.

Therefore it's difficult to know what you are talking about.

Switch only costs about B350. Lotus sells a Dlink.

Go without one whore for one night and you can afford a decent Ethernet switch.

I agree. I signed for a basic 1-computer WiFi access when I subscribed, nearly 3 years ago,

and 3BB provided me a WiFi router with 4 LAN/WiFi connections smile.png

Depends of what they have in stock?
