New British Passport

Recommended Posts

I am thinking about getting my new UK passport using the 1 day express service at Peterborough main office later this year rather than using the application process from Thailand via Hong Kong.

From anyone who has done this what would be the situation concerning my visa extension / re-entry permit stamps in the existing passport when returning to BKK and presenting both new and old passports to the Immigration officer? Does Thai Immigration at the airport accept the visa and re-entry stamps in the existing passport before putting the appropriate stamp in the new passport? Also is there anything that should be avoided when the UK authorities make the old passport invalid that could cause complications with Thai Immigration upon return?

One final question. Is it a requirement to get a visa extension transferred officially from old to new passport at Chaeng Wattana?

You should have no problem entering the country with both passports. They will stamp your new passport with an entry equal to your re-entry permit.

You will then need to make a trip to immigration to get your extension, re-entry permit and etc. transferred to your new passport.
