Hi all...first thanks for all the great information and tips here. Its very helpful and most appreciated. I am preparing to assist my GF in lodging her visa application for a tourist visa when I arrive in April. I have read all the posts and have taken all advise with our details needed.

But what about presentation? I was preparing to lodge all the information in a folder with plastic sleeves. I located one with 120 sleeves so it has 240 pages when used back to back......so its more than enough for all the emails, print out of chats, phone records, supporting stat decs, and much more etc etc........that I have collected.

I have added an index at the front to show all details of documents, photos etc etc. and where they are located

Will this presentation folder style be acceptable ???

( I read on our English friends link that their embassy made some applicants pull of the info out of the folder and just hand it in loose )

Many thanks to you all.

You'll get various answers to your question on presentation. Some applicants go to great lengths to colour code papers, put them in plastic sleeves, many have an index etc.

I don't think it really matters as long as you make your presentation neat and tidy, and as long as all the required information is there.

When my better half and I handed in our application, the officer receiving it shuffled the papers around and put them in their own preferred reading order.

We had an index but didn't use a presentation folder as described by you.

We used a small bulldog clip for our emails and letters etc.

You should put your biggest effort into making the content of your application as strong as you possibly can. Presentation is important but not as important as the application itself.

If you keep your statutory declarations together, your photos together, emails together, yours and her covering letter together etc. it makes it easy for your case officer to find them.

I agree with Mighty. Don't go overboard with the sleeves and folders and stuff. It can make their job more difficult taking things in and out. Paper clips and things are far better and easier to manipulate. The order you might think is correct, might not be good for them. And as Mighty said, the content is the most important.......Good luck with the visa!

we pretty much did the same as mouse, gave them photo albums, emails, telephone records etcreally it's about that famous statement "an ongoing and genuine relationship".

have you got the partner migration booklet?

My then girlfriend and I had a coffee mug with our photo on it. We took that and a couple of photos. Unfortunately we couldn't slide the mug through the hole in the window but atleast I could have a cup of coffee.

We also took a heap of stuff on CD, but they wouldn't accept that, so in the end all they had were a few pics printed off the pc and a statement saying that I will cover any medical costs incurred and that if my folks like her I will marry her.

A couple of hours later we had a visa, and I was sipping on a coffee.

10 points for being prepared John, not all us sandgropers are that way.

Dont be too fussy with the presentation, twice now I have piled it all into one large envelope as loose sheets....the documants were all taken out and put loosely in the satchel, I dont know if it was put into any specific order. they gave us the envelope back.

The reason why they dont like it in folders, etc....is because they will photocopy certain documents and send them to Australia. This is done to assist in locating a person if there is an overstay or other problems.

If and when you get the visa I would be interested to know what visa you get and which you applied for. I have a thread here called "Oz Embassy...issuing 12 month visas" It appears that some are getting 12 month multi entry visas even tho they asked for a 3 month single entry visa, my girl being one of them. I am trying to work out if it applies to all since Feb 1st or if there is a criteria that they use. Your input would be great.

Tuky, things have changed, There is no window at the Vfs Office...it is done over a table top....the time for processing the application is a minimum of 5 days....you will not get a visa on the same day as the applications can only be accepted at the Vfs Office and they are couriered to the embassy for processing....the application is then returned to the Vfs Office and you can then pick it up from there. You have to ring them to see if it is ready for collection or look on the website using the ref number they give you. With my girls two applications it took 6 days.

Bronco....for a tourist visa there is no obligation to prove that an ongoing relationship exists...you can bring a friend here that you are not in a relationship with....but you must have known them for a minimum of 6 months and show proof of that.
