Taking A Bike On Thai Domestic Flight

Anybody any experience of this?

I have a 26" Dahon folder and not sure whether to take it packed/folded or put it on as a 'normal' bike.

(I ask because on the flight over, folded, the rear Derailleur got mangled & was a 2+ week wait for spares & repair)

I took 2 bikes from Phuket to Udon Thani by Thai Airways Air Freight. It was not only less expensive but they handled the boxed bikes very well. The boxed bikes looked just like when I left them at the airport.

I am a big believer in detaching the rear derailleur mounting bolt and putting a baggie and some padding around the derailleur and then taping to the chainstay.

It's fairly easy and quick and prevents the hangar or derailleur from getting bent.

Thanks that was the source of my last problem and the Probike guys spotted what had caused it straight away.
