Bullshit, 24,310,843

No farmer would allow himself to be depended purely on rice harvesting alone for 1.

My reply to you

is a question.. Can you be more specific about your motivation to ask this?

300 billion baht in government rice subsidies that pays 40% over market value.

Something that may be related, I just don't know. For the past two months or so, there has not been any of the 25 kg bags of rice at Makro.

Lots of smaller bags but none of the 25's

If anyone has seen these at any of the other outlets, please advise.

Very few people are able to live on what they make from growing rice. That said, the growing of rice is an integral part of village life. The older people still remember a time when you couldn’t easily go out and buy rice to eat and you had to grow your own. Even if they are loosing money on the crop, they continue with the mentality that they must grow their own.

By the government supporting rice growers they are essentially securing a very large voting block and giving themselves a better chance of staying in power.

Its a ticking time bomb.

If they keep filling in Paddy's with concrete at the rate they are around my way Thailand will be an importer of rice and not an exporter within 20 years !
