Getting A Police Report Fro A Thai Lady

In order to get a visa to live with me in Spain, my wife needs a police report.

What is the easiest way to get one.

Can it be a local police station, say Samut Sakhon or must it be in the main police station in Bangkok.

What documentation will she need.

Both her National ID card and Passport have been updated and she has a change of name certificate.

If you request the police station to mail your certificate, they send it

I was hoping that it could be done locally but no luck.

We had already visited the centre but we were turned away because we didn't have my passport and copy nor the letter from me to say she would be living with me in Spain.

Today we did go to the appointed place again, and presented both my and the wife's passport, her ID card, My Spanish residency card, the Tambian Baan, the change name certificate and a letter from me to state that I would be responsible for her expenses and that she would be living with me in Spain and the address, copies of everything including marriage certificates plus copies of a couple more papers but I didn't understand what they were for.

A short queue at the first desk and accept some forms. Move to writing tables and fill in the forms. A man checked the forms and stamped each form. Next they took a computerised photo. Then finger prints were taken.

Back to the first table where another form was added and an entry made in a log.

On to table two, pay 100 Baht.

On to table three, hand in all papers to be checked again.

Receive a receipt with a date for collection, it will be Three weeks.

Then the certificate will be ready for collection.

The whole process took about one hour.

I hope that this may help someone else in the future.

The next trick, after we get the medical certificate is to get everything translated into Spanish.

I've emailed the Spanish Embassy asking for an approved translation service but I'm still waiting for their reply.

I guess they are busy because they took 3 weeks to reply to my first email requesting details of what visa is required and other documents.
