just got to chiang mai today slightly apprehensive about air quality, i did notice on the train and when on foot visibility to the mountains wasnt great, but as for breath-ability the air to me seems fine, no smell, nothing. Is today 'good' and not representative of the normal quality???

That's right we've had a few good sessions of rain which has been a big help

Returning from CM to Pai today it appears that the viz is beginning to deteriorate once again although I didn't see any fires. Pai is always more smoky than CM though due to the narrow confines of the valley. No sign of any more rain soon but it was great while it lasted!

If you can see the mountain and the temple during March, then things are quite good! When I was first here, it was a month or two before I saw that mountain and hadn't realised there was a another ring of high hills to the East.

Last year it was unbearable. This year, due to the rain, it has been hardly noticeable (except on maybe 2 days).

Hope we keep seeing rain, especially on well timed days, and maybe we can dodge the entire smoke season.

Yes this year has been half decent. There was a two or three day span where we used the air con.to filter the smog and smoke out.

All you could ever hope to see/hear/read about it in the pinned topic just above this latest topics section.
