Samui has trees on the beaches so you can have free shade.

On Phuket you have to pay for that.

Work it out from there OP! biggrin.png

Cans and worms come to mind. Switch on your alerts for this one Rooo!cheesy.gif

Depends on what you want.

Phuket is better for golf and go carting. That's about it I think. rolleyes.gif

Stop trying to be helpful NMS clap2.gif

Anyone who is considering Chaweng or Patong as the two places for somewhere to live is probably trolling.sad.png

Either way, they deserve all of the Russians that they get (and there are lots more in Phuket). The Russians who come to Samui come to get away from the ones in Phuket thumbsup.gif

This question is like asking if it better to have your left or right leg amputated. Whilst my right leg (I'm right handed) would doubtless be of greater use I can't see myself ever being in a position of needing to make a choice on the matter.

Phuket does have better shopping and is cleaner / less smelly then chewang

For living.....I like both, but wanted some objective ideas from this forum.

LoL. Grab a shovel.

Chaweng is the new Ibiza or didn't you know?rolleyes.gif Well that's what some people are trying to tell me anyway.

Chaweng has the better beach.

Beyond that I am not sure where to go.....Samui has more power cuts?

Samui still doesn't has a bridge, Phuket does...

There are charms to each place and detractions.

Samui is a bit more expensive, and definitely to fly to.

But less rain, nice beaches and there are still some

almost isolated spots with nice beaches.

I always feel more surrounded by cars and people when I go to Phuket.

There is more of a live music scene in Phuket,

But a good dance seen on Samui if that is your thing.

Yes to the better restaurants on Samui.

Serious grouping of spas, detox and wellness centers.

It really depends on what you want to do.

Thinking about this one - I see it as a plus for Samui. (Keeps the riff raff out)

When it's raining in Phuket, the sun shines in Samui...

Personally i can't understand why, given the beautiful areas both islands have to offer why anyone would choose chaweng or patong in the first place.

It actually rains a hell of a lot more in phuket. Check the annual rainfall chartswink.png

I don't think so...mainstream has infiltrated for the masses, no more underground beats just gangnam sh*te everywhere

phuket(imho)is not a proper island, its connected to the mainland by a bridge
