1St Retirement Extension

Featured Replies

British, just finishing my two years on multiple OA visa and need to do 1st extension.

Everything prepared, using money in bank method.

Just 2 questions:

1. I have read a few times the letter from bank needs to be the same date as the application, is that correct?

Is the day before acceptable?

2. For the re-entry permit is it possible to still do at Soi SuanPlu on a following day as opposed to spending more time at Chaengwattana?

1. They will want you to provide an update on that day (banks one floor down so easy to do).

2. That office can only be used for emergency Saturday service - during week you must use Chiang Watanna from last report I have read. Really does not take people that long to obtain at Chiang Watanna from reports I have read.

Reports lately indicate Chaeng Wattana immigration will accept letters dated the day before. But is very easy to get the letter when you go to immigration. Just go down the stairs to the ground floor and most banks have a branch that will issue the letter for 200 TB. It only takes minutes to do this.

Re-entry permits are issued at Chaeng Wattana since Suan Plu office is for burmese/cambodian/laos only. Once you receive your extension stamp, just go down stairs and get a copy of the new stamp page from your passport and go back to immigration for your re-entry permit. There can be a wait, but usually not very long. Just remember to bring all the required documents for the application.

Lop3, I was slow typing.

I keep hearing this 200 baht charge for a bank letter. I get my bank letter at the Bangkok Bank Chaeng Wattana Branch (on first floor of immigration building) and I'm only charged 100 baht...and I just went an checked my bank letter receipts from my last two extensions...100 baht charged each time. Takes about 5-10 minutes to get the letter. Then it's up the escalator to immigration to apply for the annual extension. So easy...if a person can afford to have the required money in a Thai bank account it sure beats a trek to your home country embassy and the approx. $50/1600 baht (or up) charge for the income letter from the embassy.

It took me less than 10 minutes to get a multi-entry after the extension was issued. Would save you a lot of time to do it there and then.

In Chiang Khan, Khon Kaen and Khorat they accept 1 day before as the date of the bankletter.

Maybe you have something special down there in the Bangkok-ghetto....

I recently did an extension at Chaengwattana, (on 24th December 2012) and used a bank letter dated the previous day, with no problem. As long as the passbook update is the same day, and the total in the passbook matches the letter you shouldn't have a problem.

I deposited 1000B the day before, and withdrew it on the day of the application to update the pass book while keeping the total sum the same as quoted in the letter.

I also did an extension the previous year with a letter that was dated two days before the application, using the same passbook update method, also without a problem,
