PATTAYA:--The Banglamung District Traffic Police Unit who have a number of checkpoints set-up around Pattaya over the festival weekend arrested a suspected drug courier on Sunday Night in East Pattaya.

Officers stationed at a checkpoint in Soi Kao Noi, close to where it intersects with the railway road spotted a man on an Orange Yamaha Fino who they wanted to check. As soon as he saw the checkpoint he double-backed and sped-off. In pursuit were Police and Police Volunteers who were able to intercept the man in Soi Neun Plub Wan.

An initial search uncovered a large quantity of class 1 drugs so the suspect was taken back to the Traffic Police Station where the arrest of Khun Apichart aged 19 was confirmed. He was caught in possession of 1,940 Yabba Tablets and 84.7g of Crystal Methamphetamine with a combined street value of around 800,000 Baht.
