Visa Run/leave Thailand W/out Entering Another Country/possible?

if you were to do a visa run to mai sae or chiang kong, get your exit stamp from thai immigration, then go stand on the bridge(mai sae) without techinically entering myanmar, or hang out at the boat launch in chiang kong(without crossing over into laos), and then head on back to thai immigration for your entry stamp, would that work? or is it not allowed? just checking.

Not allowed. They'll check for an exit stamp from the other country.

Makes me remind a friend who tried to cheat on his Chiangmai fiancée by entering Thailand twice, at the time Don Muang was main airport. He arrive 5 days 'before', spending time with his 16 year old Pattaya bargirl. Then on 'the day of arrival' heading back to the airport, checked out, walked around and checked in again, his fiancée waiting him at the exit. Very clever thinking.

However, back home in Chiangmai she got confused when checking the stamps in his passport...
