For automotive use the grey stuff. Ive also used the red RTV silicone from permatex as head gaskets in the past for single cylinder bikes. Dont use the brown stuff it doesnt dry.

For others you can get SONY industrial silicone at Home Pro (caulking tube size), good stuff.

Can it handle temps up to 400f?? I need it for stopping leaks in a meat smoker.

I don't remember what the temp limit is. I sure it is spelled out on the packaging. I use it on motorcycle muffler to header joints, and it seals nicely.
