Getting Insulted In Thai

Featured Replies

I only know a few choice words and never use them but can sometimes recognise when someone is being openly rude.

So far:

Mung kwai = you buffalo (the you is a kind of derogatory you I think)

Uan mak = very fat

Doll air = bullshitter

I don't mind some well meaning fun but sometimes it can be a bit insulting to say the least.

And yes I am a very fat bullshitting buffalo!

What is the problem, britgent. I don't understand, sorry.

How old are you?

Farang

"Very fat" is not an insult - it's a description.

Nobody can insult you but yourself.

How long have you understood Thai?

I ask because in my first year here, I thought I was being insulted every time I got on the bus - the conductress would shout 'farang' at me. It was quite funny when I started learning to speak Thai and I realized she was saying 'kaang lang' meaning go to the back.

Maybe it's all in your mind?

What does lowe lowe mean? Not sure if I'm spelling it right but sounds like it. Either lowe lowe or lor lor. It was when I got taken to the village first time to meet the family and all the females gathered round me. It was an insult right?

Ok question time. Is there a Thai equivalent for 'blow me jerkoff'?

farang kee nok

A Thai cop called me a 'heah farang' when I refused to pay some tea money a while ago.

without debating what is or isnt an insult, this thread will either way be against forum rules

1. no offensive language to be used

2. only english, except for in the Thai language forum (and even there rule 1 above appplies).

cheers
