Hi all !

i am taking the Mrs to UK for 6 weeks or so.

Last time we got her a Tourist visa and this time we are married.

Do i get her a visa to visit family or a tourist visa.

Which is easier ? if any ?

Are the document requirements the same ?

Is it easier now we are married ?

Any advice or stories would be appreciated.

p.s. i am a UK citizen.

This time you should get a Family visit visa. The requirements are the same but include a translation of your marriage certificate.

Just be as through as you were when you applied for the tourist visa.

Indeed the requirements are the same, ie genuine visit, affordability and reasons to return, the fact your wife has successfully applied before helps as it proves she has previously complied with the terms of her visa, but she shouldn't take things for granted as each application is considered on its merits.

The main difference with a standard visit visa and a family visit visa is that, currently, the visit visa carries the right of appeal if the application is refused, also remember that you don't get her a visa, she has to apply herself.

By the way you word your post it seems like you are living in Thailand, in which case she should concentrate on your life here.

If you are really thinking about travelling in six weeks she should start working on her application now, it gets busy this time of the year and Songkran holidays will delay things further.

Hi,

My girlfriend wants to come to the UK again having previously visited, but she can't seem to find the VAF1A form she filled in last year.

Having looked myself it appears you have to apply on line now, is that the case? If not has anyone got a link to the form.

Thanks,
