Help With Lost Bag

Featured Replies

Hi. I have an embarrassing situation. I got home late on Thursday night and managed to leave a green shoulder bag in the taxi. Unfortunately, my passport and work permit were in the bag. When I realized what I had done, I went the next day to the police station and made a report. I was wondering, though, if there was a phone number I could call to see if the driver had found it and turned it in. Unfortunately, I don't remember any details about the taxi (such as color).

Even if there is a phone number to call, though, my Thai is not good so I might not be able to explain myself. If there is any kind soul here who is willing to give me any information or could even make the call for me in Thai, I would be eternally grateful. I'm happy to offer a reward for its return, though I know it's a long shot.

If anyone can help, please PM me and I'll give you my phone number. Thank you.

Two numbers you can call - English should be OK

Many taxi drivers listen to a Taxi radio station and if there is a reward - this might be an incentive. Hope that if you can get the message heard - you might get a positive response. Plan (for the worst however) to renew your passport

A Songkran miracle happened tonight. I have my bag back, with everything still in it.

I wound up calling two of the traffic radio stations with my sad story, and they broadcast something over the air. Less than 15 minutes later, a taxi driver (but not the one who I lost the bag to, oddly), called me and said that not only did he have my bag, but that he was in the area. A short time after that, I had my bag back. And everything was still in it: passport, work permit, reading glasses, computer. Amazing. He seemed flabbergasted when I tipped him 1000 baht. It was well worth it.

Great news and also great to tip him 1000bt

Now that's what I call a happy ending!

Wonderful story. Glad it all worked out, and it erases 10 bad stories you read about khon Thai and/or taxi drivers.
