Apparently that's the location of the old zoo that's long gone. The current zoo is within Somdej etc park that's already correctly marked.

Thanks. Found a video of the current zoo speaking out the location of the place. As you said it is within Somdej park. I will adjust the map with the new info.

My Vote is the Michelin map coated with a high quality silicone spray...both sides, do outside and drape over a rack to dry.

Do not spray inside---overspray makes the floor very slippery. The map's paper is remarkably fragile....especially sweating on it under a tree in Isaan. For all my long distance bicycle trips---nothing comes close to the NOKIA HERE maps

that are non-network dependent. Go to Android (Google Play) and/or Windows phone to download for free. They are easy on the battery.

Yes, Google Maps are the Gold standard, but many times, just a hint of a left or right turn does the trick. Until smartphones

can run for a week on a single battery charge, the network and battery demands down votes Google maps in favor of the HERE maps. If you have maps in your vehicle, they are Nokia HERE maps. Nokia is selling this division off to some silicon valley company for $5billion USD.

This is the definitive map for now. i decided to modify the look of the map. Do you find this one more clear and easier. Added more POI and rearranged some of them in the right position. And if anyone wants to print or use the map in their websites i have no problem with that.

The map link is: http://postimg.org/image/xh2c8iejn/full/

Sorry but I think that link is gone. When I click on it I get only 5 pictres from some girls but no maps.

I'm looking for a printed street map of Roi et to aid my familiarisation of the city. I've looked in book stores, the big out of town supermarket and department stores, but no luck so far. I'd be happy to buy by mail order if that's the only option available.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Think Maps, available at most book stores, have a large map of Thailand, but it comes with a CD fill of maps of Thailand, I'm sure you would be able to zoom in on Roi-et and then print it. You could of course do the same with Google maps.

All the maps you can find in book stores aren't good; miss many roads, even on 1/200,000* ones, and often the numbers of the roads on the maps aren't the real ones.

My maps are in my brain;

I was a trucker all over Europe, going to Ukrainia, south of Portugal and south Italy;going to Sweden; my boss was in France .

and when I go somewhere, it's for my life in my head .

Opposing view, I cannot remember the names of the people I meet everywhere.giggle.gif

I cycle much on the roads of Thailand; between 12,000 and 15,000 km each year ;

I think I cycled all the roads, even the reds ones within a radius of 15 kilometers around my village.

I would like to know if you have had any success in getting these maps. I am also after large scale maps of the area between Mukdahan and Ubon along Route 212. I am particularly interested in the area around Loeng Nok Tha, about half way between Amnat Charoen and Mukdahan. I worked there in 1967-68 on the construction of the airfield and a rural development road. I would also be interested in making email contact with people who are currently living in the area or are familiar with it. This includes any Brit or Australian Sappers or others who worked on the airfield/road.

Operation Crown have a website www.creopcrown.co.uk. They have photos of the airfield you mention. Some of the veterans come to our Remembrance Day ceremony here in Ubon every year. I can also provide email addresses if you are interested.
