Baby Passport

Featured Replies

Ok so we're having a new baby me and my thai wife next month, our first! Was wondering what you guys thought was the best option as regarding passports. Do I get a thai one or a uk one and if so what do I have to do to do this? I will be applying g for a three month holiday visa when the child is about three months so my baby an wife can come to the uk whilst I work. So is it better to have a uk one or a thai one thanks.

You should get both passport, so the child can travel between Thailand and the UK without the need for a visa. Which one you apply for first doesn't matter. The child will have both nationalities and can and should use both passports.

First you register the child at the local amphur, then you register the child with the embassy and apply for a UK passport.

Thanks Mario2008 So do I have to go in person with the wife and baby to the uk embassy in Bangkok, or can I do this on my own? Even via post or does it have to be done in person? Thanks.

The embassy website will have details, but since you want to also apply for a passport which must be done in person, it is best to go all 3 of you. Same goes for the Thai passport, which doesn't take long.
