Hi There,

My current Visa extension (My second done within Thailand based on Marriage) is coming up for expiry on 3rd May.

Usually, I would go to do the extension in Thailand as normal, however the 30 day wait time is worrying due to my father having Pancreatic cancer, and a critical scan post Chemo is due around the same date my Visa expires. Basically, I do not want to run the risk of having to wait 30 days for the decision, in case I need to return to the UK to be with my family. Also, I would then have to get a multi re-entry permit once that is sorted, so I can come and go as family commitments dictate. Plus the fact Im in Chiang Mai, and I forgot to get an online appointment, so thats extra hassle I can do without this year.

So... I figure, a nice few days away in KL, and apply for a multi non Imm O based on my marriage. Its just a better fit this year to do that.. I have all funds etc all set and ready to go as per usual requirements within Thailand.

I have been reading some recent reports, about it being a bit hit and miss at the moment.

So, my question is, is it possible, and what should I do to ensure my application is succesful. I will be travelling alone just for the purpose of obtaining the visa.

I intend to book flights within the next day or two, so all input would be appreciated.

Oh - and good hotels near the consulate? Any tips?

Thanks in advance, and I apologise if my question has recently been covered, I just am reading some conflicting reports.

Thanks

You could get a re-entry permit for the 30 day under consideration period. But you would have to be here on that date.

Another option would be to get a 60 day extension to visit your wife and a re-entry permit for that extension. And then get one year extension before this extension expires.

Kl is still doing multiple entry O visas based upon marriage to a Thai. They want to see 100K baht in the bank.

Savannakhet Laos is another option multiple O visa and they require no proof of income.
