Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho says he wants to rest key players for Sunday's trip to league leaders Liverpool.

Manchester City can still win the title if they win their remaining four fixtures and Liverpool lose a game.

When told that resting players against Liverpool might not please City, Mourinho said: "I think I will do it, but we have to speak internally."

oh look, he's made it all about him again. him and his tiny squad and minimal resources. bless him.

Everything is about him, narcissus didn't even come close.

He certainly thinks ahead, but not necessarily about football.

Mirror, mirror on the wall.....

Whose that behind me?

OK Hazard, I'll back heel it and you can put it in the net.

Suarez and Sturridge do the same.

Chelsea put out a weakened team so they can have a proper crack at the Champions League, and gift the league to Liverpool.

The Premier League will rattle their sabre and say you're very naughty, but no, we can't cut the Premier League to 18 teams and have a winter break, we make too much money, so have a slap on the wrist, pay a 15p fine and let that be a lesson to you.

Since the 25 man squad rule came out, anyone within that squad can be selected to play

without any question by the FA.

So it's not an issue anymore.

Liverpool have revealed plans to increase Anfield's capacity from 45,500 to almost 59,000.

http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/27135682

not enough. it's a step but not enough.

Do you mean they could / should increase the size of Anfield, or build a completely new stadium that holds more people?

The area itself doesn't have the infrastructure to cope with much more than 60k. To build a 70k plus arena would mean moving away from L4 and building on the outskirts of the city.

Then thats what they might have to do because the revenues from 60000 at Anfield won't probably be anything near what Arsenal get in london at the Library would they? saying that Liverpool do make fortunes in global merchandise.

Interested to hear what some of you have to say about the stay or relocate issues.

If they can fill new Anfield to say 75,000 at existing prices that implies an extended ground of 60,000 could be filled at a higher price such that there is possibly not that much difference in total revenue. The issue no doubt is whether management can face down the loyal fans with such a prawn sandwich strategy. Maybe worth the price to keep the atmosphere

not necessarily. L4 has been ignored for ages as we know but there's no reason not to invest more in the area of anfield itself. regenerate the area, build anfield stadium up to 65k+ or 70k. we'd sell the tickets. couple of seasons ago i read that united made £3m more than us in home matchday revenues alone. times that by 20 over a season, £60m. three players there.

but it is tragic what's been allowed to happen to that area of the city. just been let go.

Ground share with Everton?

Seriously though, I read that John Henry is very keen to stay at Anfield because of the history and the heritage.

He did the same at Boston Red Sox.

He turned Red Sox round that's for sure.

Same path to restored glory for Liverpool?

Looks like a cool dude to me.

It's a done deal now anyway but for what it's worth, majority of fans preferred extending Anfield as opposed to a new ground in Stanley Park. Moving away from the area and/or ground sharing with the trickies was abhorent to the vast majority. The Council would not grant planning permission for a 70k plus arena because of the lack of infrastructure in what remains an inner city area. The cost of improving this, ie building a new transit system is obviously not financially viable. Arsenal's ground actually holds less than 2k more seats and was built on (virtually) vacant land next door to a railway station. Things may change in the longer term but I am happy with 60k for now....especially as the cost will not impact on the team itself unlike as happened with the building of the Emirates Stadium

60K would put it on a par with Emirates.

Only OT at 75 and Wembley at 90 hold more.

Etihad 47

Chelsea 42

We look forward to visiting Anfield.

unclear yet i think. though word is he's fit enough.

perhaps we're leaving him on the bench to be fair to chelsea and their weakened team.

Liverpool need a result sunshine.

We ain't got nothing to lose.

Apart from pride.

you really have bought mourinho's snake oil haven't you? bless.

well, of course it's still the opposite of the truth. nothing to lose, little horse, no strikers, mike dean's fault, chris foy's fault, fourth official's fault, league fixture scheduler's fault, weakened team, playing for pride. all parts of the same load of unmitigated b*llocks.

Yes.

I would be very surprised if City are disappointed by our effort.

Then they have to go to Crystal Palace.

^ I've got a feeling they'll be moping around the park by 4.15 Sunday. Perhaps they'll put a second string side out too.

We're playing Chelsea with Cech and Terry out injured and Hazard doubtful. Weakened team my hoop.
