Bkk-London Want Short Stopover

Featured Replies

Just flew direct to uk .

Not a bad flight but so looong.

Would not mind using an airline that has a change of planes somewhere just to break the monotony.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

The obvious candidates are the middle east airlines , Qatar, Emirates, Etihad etc stopover halfway through the flight, also often better in terms of service. Cheaper maybe are Air India and Jet, though with a more hassle stopover experience. For a longer stopover and the chance to see somewhere different then Cathay or Sri Lankan

Funny. I've just booked with BA to avoid the stopover and to get the shorter overall flight time. The low price of GBP550 for a 1-year ticket also helped in my decision.

If you particularly want to break your journey then Qatar, Emirates and Etihad are the obvious ones to go for, as mentioned, as they more or less cut the journey into two equal parts. They do add 2 or 3 hours to the overall flight time though and personally I just want to get the awful experience over and done with as fast as possible.

Emirates - 2 hour stopover in Dubai

that sounds like a bargain. where did you find that?

This fare has been available for some time and applies on most dates for the low season, though it does come and go a bit. At one point it was about GBP40 cheaper and I posted about it a couple of times in the pinned "deals" thread. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/527870-airline-information-and-flight-deals-for-expats/page-3#entry6337830

Etihad have a connection of 12 hours in Abu Dhabi. A nightmare if you want to stay in the airport, but super if you fancy a half-day around the city.

Also a 90 minute stop each way....nice break.

Black pudding, what dates were the BA tickets for? £550 is seriously cheap for them.

Sorry, just read your post!

Finnair also have stop over in helsinki, good prices too.

I think any carrier that doesn't carry the British or Thai flag should stop in their homeland first. There may be some exceptions for EU countries. Look at the map and decide where you want to stop. Swiss Air and Turkish Airways come to mind in addition to those already mentioned. This summer I fly from Canada to Singapore by KLM via Amsterdam then return by Air France via Paris.

Malaysia air 1 hour 15 minutes, 2nd leg on the A380, problem is its a longer flight than bkk/lhr, as is cathay, for a stop over flight without spending lots more time in the air it has to be one of the uae airlines

There are numerous flights... Etihad stop overs vary. I've never had more than 3 hrs, usually 2 hrs.

As with any flights with connections, choose your flights wisely and look at all the options.

As other posters have mentioned... Middle Eastern Airlines....

The morning flight from BK on Etihad has a 1 hour connection at Abu Dhabi and the Qatar flight 45 minutes at Doha

Turkish Air have good deals with stopover in Instanbul which is probably more like halfway.

its a 2 hour stop over what do you expect to see of any country in that time. most airports tend to use concrete. What you are there for is to simply change flights.

Had an alert this morning from WESTEAST Travel Singapore Air doing return fare Lon-Bangkok for 505 GB pounds.

Depends on how long you need a stopover to last ! I am flying BKK-LON in august with QATAR with a two hr stopover, thats enough for me. Others would like to have a look around the country or city........Up to you wai2.gif

Not a bad price and not a bad airline but the total duration of the flights is very long and they only seem to have a few dates at that price. I dont think it's a one-year ticket either. You also get all the downside of a long non-stop flight to Singapore and then have to take a second much shorter flight to get to Thailand.

If I have to change planes I like it to be about halfway. Otherwise I'd rather go direct.

If the ticket suited I would take the route, indeed have taken it. Good airline and never had the problems I've experienced from Pattaya bound p***heads that I have on some other airlines.
