The answer is no and no, but you can check with them in the extremely unlikely chance this has changed. They both have noteworthy restrictions as well. Hanoi requires you to show an onward ticket out of Thailand. Vientiane won't give you a tourist visa if your passport already has 5 used ones in it. thaiflyer1 is on the money as usual.

As has been said already you will be hard pushed to obtain a double or triple in Laos...........Penang is the best place to go really.......a double is a certainty and a triple a possibility using an agent.

You could as suggested give Vientiane and Hanoi a call just to double check.

Well, I was in Penang a few months ago, but didn't get a Thai visa because I didn't know if I'd be returning to Thailand, since I was going to Vietnam for a long stay.

But I will check the Hanoi and Vientiane consulates to verify that they are doing their duty, making travellers' lives difficult.

I hope those five max tourist visas in your passport that so offend the Vientiane office don't include 30 day entry stamps!

Reading the posts I see that penang is the place to go. Do they alway approve you?
