Australian bar offers trip to Phuket – with free plastic surgery

PHUKET: -- A singles-oriented bar in Australia is running a contest for a free trip to Phuket, and all the plastic surgery you can eat, so to speak.

The contest is the brainstorm of the owners of Tryst Bar & Nightclub of Mackay, in Queensland. Mackay is the "sugar capital" of Australia.

While the contest rules state the winner will win "comestic surgery", the promotion is blatantly sexy, aimed primarily at women who might want to "improve" their breasts, butts or legs.

The bar has enrolled local cosmetic surgery travel agent ID Rejuvenation Travel to handle the details of the scheme – a free trip to Phuket, combined with plastic surgery.

ID Rejuvenation agent Amy Price told the local Daily Mercury newspaper that most entrants seem interested in breast augmentation.

And that's the way the advertising for the contest is running, as can be seen from the promotion photo.

Ms Price said others were considering dental work, laser corrective eye surgery and other cosmetic procedures such as nose jobs, liposuction and eye-lifts.

The contest is essentially a raffle. Buy a round of drinks at the club for A$50 or more (about B1,500) and get a chance to win the trip.

First prize covers flights, five nights at a hotel, and the chosen surgery.

Phuket boob job holiday? This round’s on me
Phuket Gazette

PHUKET: -- A cosmetic surgery holiday company in Australia is now raffling off a trip to Phuket, complete with the option of breast augmentation surgery – all for the price of a round of drinks.

The company, ID Rejuvenation, has paired up with the popular local nightclub Tryst, in Mackay on the Central Queensland coast, to offer the deal, reported the local newspaper CQNews.

Amy Price, head of ID client services, explained that willing punters need to simply spend $50 on drinks at Tryst.

Cosmetic surgery is popular in the coastal country town, but is out of most local residents’ budgets, she explained.

“I know probably 10 girls that have just got breast implants this month,” Ms Price told the Daily Mercury.

Ms Price, who has also had breast implants, said that for many women cosmetic surgery was about gaining self-confidence.

“It’s good to have that kind of perspective to tell girls about it when they come up and ask,” she said.

Ms Price said the competition, launched last weekend, had already generated much interest from male and female patrons.

While most people inquired about breast augmentation, many also asked about dental work, laser corrective eye surgery and other cosmetic procedures such as nose jobs, liposuction and eye-lifts, she said.

Phuket ranked high on the company’s medical tourism list of destinations.

“We had a testimonial by one girl who had the surgery one day and spent the next day drinking cocktails by the pool,” Ms Price said.

The competition prize pays for flights, five nights’ accommodation and surgery.

Patrons compile their dollar-value of drinks on a punch card, which is then entered in a lucky draw. They can enter as many times as they like.

The winner will be drawn at the end of July.

No one is holding a gun to your head. You could always leave if you're disgusted by Aussies. Just saying. thumbsup.gif
